I Want An Abortion, What’s Next?

I Want An Abortion, What’s Next?

If you’re reading this, chances are you’re feeling overwhelmed, unsure, or maybe even scared. Take a breath. You’re not the only one navigating this. Unplanned pregnancy can feel isolating, but you are not alone.

Need to talk it out? Text a nurse at (832) 979-1355 ,it’s free, private, and judgment-free.

This guide walks you through a few important first steps to help you move forward with clarity and support.

How Do I Make Sure I'm Pregnant?

If you’ve missed a period or have symptoms of pregnancy, taking a test is a smart first step. At-home tests can be helpful, but they aren’t always 100% accurate.¹

To know for sure, it’s best to confirm your results with a medical-grade pregnancy test. Many pregnancy centers offer free testing that’s more reliable, and can even include follow-up care like an ultrasound if needed. Having accurate information makes it easier to decide your next step.

When Did I Conceive?

Understanding when you likely conceived can bring clarity to your situation.

Typically, ovulation, and the possibility of conception, happens about 14 days after the start of your last period.² ³ But everyone’s cycle is different, so it’s not always exact. Sperm can also survive in your body for up to five days, so conception doesn’t always happen the day you had sex.

If you’re not sure how far along you are, an ultrasound can help date the pregnancy more precisely. Many centers provide ultrasounds at no cost and without involving insurance. Schedule one to get a clearer picture of your timeline.

Is Abortion Legal in Texas?

Abortion is illegal in Texas in nearly all cases. Exceptions are made only if the pregnancy seriously threatens the life or physical health of the mother. Abortions for reasons such as rape, incest, or fetal diagnosis are not permitted under Texas law.⁴

It’s important to note:

  • You cannot be criminally charged for having an abortion.

  • Emergency care for miscarriage or ectopic pregnancy is still legal and available.

If you have questions about your rights, risks, or what’s available in your situation, our care team can walk you through it. Text (832) 979-1355 for clear, compassionate answers.

Where Can I Go to Get  Free Support and Services?

Finding support you can trust matters. You don’t have to figure this out alone.

At Adira Clinic, we provide:

We know this is a deeply personal time, and we’re here to offer space to think things through, no pressure, no politics, just support.

Understanding Your Options

It’s common to feel like abortion is the only way forward. But it’s worth exploring all your options so you can make a choice you feel confident in, not just now, but later too.

Parenting and adoption are both real possibilities, and every path comes with its own unique challenges, supports, and outcomes. You don’t have to decide anything today, but understanding each path can help you feel more in control.

Some women feel immediate relief after abortion, while others report experiencing grief, sadness, or regret weeks or even years later. These emotional reactions are common, and they’re valid.⁵ If you’d like to talk with someone who’s been through it or with a counselor, we can help you get connected.

Abortion Education & Support

If you’re considering abortion, get the facts before you make a final decision.

Local pregnancy centers offer safe, private, and pressure-free spaces where you can ask questions, process your feelings, and explore every option. They’ll help you understand:

  • What the abortion pill and procedures involve

  • What risks may come with them

  • What support is available to you, legally and emotionally

You can text (832) 979-1355 to speak with someone who listens, not lectures.

Your story matters. Your health matters. And whatever you’re facing, you don’t have to face it alone.
